Notes: This is an M4A1 Sherman
of the US 67th Armd Regt, 2nd Armoured Div during
Operation Husky in July 1943, Sicily. The Allied invasion of Sicily, codenamed Operation Husky, was a major World War II campaign, in which the Allies took Sicily from the Axis (Italy and Nazi Germany). It was a large scale amphibious and airborne operation, followed by six weeks of land combat. It launched the Italian Campaign. Husky
began on the night of July 9–10, 1943, and ended August 17.
Strategically, Husky achieved the goals set out for it by
Allied planners. The Allies drove Axis
air and naval forces from the island; the Mediterranean's sea lanes
were opened and Italian dictator Benito Mussolini was toppled from
power. It opened the way to the Allied invasion of Italy. (from WikiPedia)
This version shows my tan with green desert coloring with addition of "painted-on" water can on the side of the tank. There are dozens of new details that can only be seen if you look up close, such as rivets, scratches, and (if you look closely on the bottom photos) sand colored treads. The images below are larger than what is shown, right-click to save them and they will show up full size. |
